My job consists of charging people for my skills and abilities, and the unit by which that's measured is my time. I often feel about hours the way others feel about dollars. Just as many folks struggle with having more bills at the end of the month than dollars, I often feel like I there are less hours in a week than billable hours of work that need to get done. And just like bills, even if you're successful one week, you still have this persistent debt that will roll around next week.
This morning I woke feeling like, "I need to get some work done today," and rebelling against the thought of working on Easter Sunday. I finally realized that the Hope of Jesus Christ is that this day to day grind is not all there is, and that He offers hope in all things, including my perpetual lack of energy and time to accomplish all I need or want to in a given week. Praise God!
A few Easter hymns to leave you with:
Low in the Grave
Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior, waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Refrain: Up from the grave he arose; with a mighty triumph o'er his foes; he arose a victor from the dark domain, and he lives forever, with his saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
2. Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior, vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! (Refrain)
3. Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior; he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! (Refrain)
Easter Song
Hear the bells ringing
They're singing that you can be born again
Hear the bells ringing
They're singing christ is risen from the dead
The angel up on the tombstone
Said he has risen, just as he said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That jesus christ is no longer dead
Joy to the word, he has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
