While many of us Americans live in a country where religious freedom is one of our founding principles, there are many Christians around the world who live in daily fear because of their faith. An organization I've come to appreciate deeply is called Voice of the Martyrs. The organization was founded by a Romanian who was imprisoned by the Communists after World War II for refusing to recant his faith. His wife, too, was subjected to forced labor. (You can read their impressive story here.) Since then, VOM has tried to empower and bring relief to those around the world who are being persecuted, as well as inform the world about the plight of the persecuted. You can learn more about Voice of the Martyrs by visiting http://www.persecution.com/.
