One of my all-time favorite magazines has been Christian History and Biography. Published by the folks who print Christianity Today, it's a highly visual magazine (lots of paintings, photos, graphical timelines, etc.) that goes in-depth in each issue about a single topic. The topics covered are incredibly varied, whether it's "Christianity in India: A Faith of Many Colors", "Jonathan Edwards: Puritan Pastor & Theologian", or "How the Irish Were Saved". As an Art History major in college who now only studies history for fun, this magazine has been a delight to pour over every month.

Sadly, my delight in the magazine came to an abrupt end this week: the magazine is no longer going to be printed. One of the great things about the magazine was the limited number of ads to detract from the content, but alas, a magazine is expense to print without ads, when the subscriber base is, shall we say, a select few. I think they'll still be publishing some content on the web at
http://www.christianhistory.net/. However, something great about history is that it doesn't really change! (Although I suppose one's interpreation of events could change, but that's a discussion for another time.) At any rate, there are about 100 past issues of the magazine that you can still buy, while supplies last. You can buy back issues here:

- Building the City of God in a Crumbling World
- The Council of Nicea: Debating Jesus' Indentity
- African Apostles: Black Evangelists in Africa
- G.K. Chesterton: Prolific Writer and Apologist
- How the Vikings Took Up the Faith
- Jan Hus: Incendiary Preacher of Prague
- Phoebe Palmer: Mother of the Holiness Movement
- Christians and Muslims
- The End: A History of the Second Coming
- St. Francis of Assisi
- How Christianity Came to Russia
